Seattle-based furniture designer Andy Whitcomb is a master of repurposing materials, breathing life into discarded industrial elements and transforming them into timeless pieces of furniture made for everyday use. Andy says he often draws inspiration from the aging qualities of each found object and material. His lasted series of artwork emerges through observing, imagining, and placing the materials from his studio in different combinations and orientations. Playing with contrasting shapes, materials, textures, and colors to bring forth a dynamic visual experience. There is no agenda, no deeper meaning. His artwork is about the experience of creating something beautiful, by elevating under-appreicated materials and objects to a place where they will be valued.
This series will debut at on January 9, 2015 from 6-9pm at Ludlow: 7315 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, Washington 98103
