360° Leti Hotel - India

by Alisa Furoyama | October 25, 2011

This Himalayan retreat is something quite remarkable, to say the least. Perched on a grassy plateau in Uttaranchal, India 8,000 feet above sea level, you'll have to earn your stay here. In order to reach the beautifully innovative structure, built by architects Studio Mumbai, and the awe-inspiring panoramic views that surround it you must first take an overnight train ride from Delhi followed by a seven hour cliff hugging drive through steep mountains. But it doesn't end there. 360° Leti is only enjoyed by the those travelers willing to traverse, on foot, the final leg of the journey: a 1.5 hour hike along a narrow trail which also happens to be dangerously close to a cliff edge. Too much to ask? One look at the hotel and its surrounding landscape and you'll see why its well worth the excursion.
