Our in-person workshops are postponed until further notice while our shops are closed. Please stay tuned for our upcoming virtual workshop program.

Join us as we explore the wonderful world of succulents. Karen Summers from the Cascade Cactus and Succulent Society of WA will discuss how to best care for succulents in the home. Whether you are a novice or are looking to expand your knowledge of your existing collection, Succulents 101 will give you the know-how for improving the life of your plants. Environmental factors, plant identification, and general care techniques will be discussed. The lecture will also include a Q&A section so be sure to bring any plant questions as well as photos you want to be identified.

Class fee includes a mini succulent you take home as well as a donation to the Cascade Cactus and Succulent Society of WA.

Karen Summers has been collecting cactus and succulents for over 45 years. She is fascinated by plants of all kinds and is an avid organic vegetable and flower gardener. She has been a member of the Cascade Cactus and Succulent Society of Washington State since 1991 and has served as Program Chair for 12 years as well as plant sale chair for 8 years. She enjoys presenting to groups on the care and cultivation of indoor and outdoor succulent plants.

The Cascade Cactus and Succulent Society of Washington State began in the early 1970’s as a study group. They’ve continued this philosophy in their mission to educate themselves and others about these unique plants.  They are also committed to conservation of cactus and succulents in all parts of the world. Growing cactus and succulents in the moist Northwest is a challenge, one they have taken on with passion. They enjoy sharing their plants, strategies, and stories with others.  They meet monthly at Phinney Neighborhood Center.
You can find them on Facebook, Instragram @cascadecss, and on their website
