Evan Kinori Flat Hem Shirt, Kakishibu
The Flat Hem Shirt is the minimalist version of an everyday button-down. True to its namesake, the bottom hem is cut flat across, lending a strong line and a clean finish. The collar is short, slightly square, and subtly spread. The sleeves feature a button at the cuff, and one at the wrist. Constructed with French seams throughout, and finished with shatter proof Corozo buttons. Cut from a rust colored cotton canvas fabric from Japan that has been hand-dyed with fermented persimmon in a traditional process called 'kakishibu.' A hand-numbered edition.
Kakishibu is a traditional Japanese dyeing process that creates a deep amber color from unripe persimmons that have been fermented and aged for more than 2 years. The discoloration is caused by the oxidation of the fermented juice, which over time will react to sunlight. The color will change slowly with time and exposure.
Pigment from this over-dye process may transfer onto lighter colored textile before the first wash. Each piece is unique and feature their own irregularities with shading and patterning.
Eben is 6'2" and typically wears a size Medium or Larges in shirts. He's wearing a size Medium here for a regular fit. If between sizes, we recommend taking the smaller.
