April Brimer has established herself among the the best young photographers in the Pacific Northwest. All of her photos have a high degree of quality and a distinct visual appeal. For the past two and a half years she has been the in-house photographer for the innovative Seattle footwear and apparel brand Dolce Vita. We spoke with Ms. Brimer this week at the Olympic Sculpture Park along Seattle's western waterfront.

"It was during a b&w photography class in junior college that I made the decision to pursue a photography career. I loved everything about the entire process. Taking pictures quickly became a big part of my life and my identity. Doing it full time just made sense to me."
"I am very purposeful with lighting and composition. Every element in my images is thought out and controlled. My lighting style is clean and bright unless the project calls for something moodier. I think a sense of calmness and thoughtfulness comes through in my subjects."
"I like my wardrobe to be comfortable and classic – with just enough modern twist. Day to day I feel best in skinny jeans, an oversized top, and a great pair of ankle boots. But I also love an excuse to put on a nice dress and heels. I need some variety once in awhile."
"I’m fortunate to feel inspired all the time. I am most inspired by the people around me that are pursuing their own passions. For me inspiration is contagious."
