Frankie & Jo’s opened its first Capitol Hill scoop shop in 2016 with the simple idea that ice cream could be both indulgent and nourishing. Founded by Kari Brunson and Autumn Martin, the brand quickly became known for its inventive approach to flavor, using housemade nut and coconut bases combined with fruits, vegetables, and botanicals to create ice cream unlike anything else in Seattle.

 

What began as one small shop has since grown into a celebrated family of locations. The Ballard scoop shop opened in 2018, followed by University Village in 2020, and most recently a California debut in Marin County in 2023. Each space carries the Frankie & Jo’s sensibility: bright, inviting, and designed to celebrate the vibrancy of plants in all forms.

 

The menu balances beloved classics like California Cabin and Salty Caramel Ash with new seasonal flavors that rotate each month. Ingredients are sourced with care, and the company is now a certified B Corp, reflecting a deeper commitment to sustainability and community impact.

 

Nearly a decade in, Frankie & Jo’s continues to shape a new tradition for ice cream, one that begins with plants and ends in moments of connection. Each shop reflects a vision of food that is joyful, nourishing, and rooted in care, offering a reminder that even the simplest pleasures can carry deeper meaning.
