Local Tide is in the heart of the Fremont nighborhood, just a few blocks from the water. The menu celebrates Seattle's maritime culture, seafood-forward and always fresh. It exists perfectly in a grey area between fine-dining and comfort food. Upon first glance, the space is inviting and informal, but the dishes served up are far from casual. The flavors on each plate are inventive, balanced, and draw inspiration from a variety of cultures. The menu doesn't feel fussy and you order at the counter. Most days they're open from lunch right through to dinner.

Chef Victor Steinbrueck, born and raised in Seattle, opened Local Tide in 2020. Since then, the menu is anchored with a few key dishes, inspired by Japanese, Taiwanese, and Vietnamese classics. No matter the season or weather, there's something on the menu that will hit the spot and thankfully, many items are offered year-round. Some of our favorites include: the Black Cod Kasuzuke that is cured and marinated for multiple days then charbroiled into the butteriest melt-in-your-mouth bites -- this dish is a must-have. The Rockfish Banh Mi is full of fresh herbs and picked veggies, and is deliciously aromatic. Don't skip the Shrimp Toast, the notes are similar to a dumpling or shumai experience but the crispy outer sesame texture takes it to whole new level.

"Growing up in an Asian household, you're always gathering around food. Quality time was spent with each other in the kitchen, not in the living room.

The pleasure for me with cooking is being able to share it with other people."
