In creating each collection, founders Larz and Aida, spend as much time developing their fabrics and building relationships with the people behind the cloth as they do on their designs. This is a characteristic common to using natural fibers finished without color fasting chemicals. This down series features ethically farmed [raised for meat / no live plucking] European silver goose down. Cleaned and processed in Japan by Kawada feather, this down retains its original mottled color, as no bleach is used. 90% down mixed with 10% feather [to reduce clumping], this product has a fill-power rating of 850. To show the down's unique color this garment is lined with a transparent 100% nylon micro-ripstop developed by Toray. Made from a custom woven high-density cotton chambray with paraffin wax coating. This signature MAN-TLE cloth is both stiff and windproof and has its own shape retaining memory. The cloth will develop character over time with wear, it will fade, soften and irregularities may form. This is a common characteristic to using natural fibers finished without color-fasting chemicals and due to the nature of the wax coating. This time commissioned to Tokushima, Japan based Somesho. Using only natural pigment from local botanicals, Somesho dye each garment individually. All water used in this process comes from the nearby stream. Locally farmed Persimmon has been used with iron to create this color.
