Glasswing Peter Miller Books, Post Alley
Glasswing Peter Miller Books Interior

Peter Miller Books is a one-of-a-kind gem. This well-curated shop specializes in, though is not limited to, design and architecture books. Around eight thousand titles line the shelves of this historic Pioneer Square spot. Tucked away in a 100-year-old brick warehouse, this Post Alley location takes a bit of searching to find. This already sets the tone for the build up of curiosity and exploration that’s sure to come once inside.

Independently-owned curated shops make up the fabric of our city’s landscapes. As discussed in “Shopkeeping: Stories, Advice, and Observations,” Peter Miller’s most recent book. ‘Small shops characterize our towns and cities, making them unique, special, and worth visiting and living near.’

Peter Miller Books has weathered multiple storms when so many beloved bookstores across the country could not. After experiencing his shop, it’s clear what the difference is. It’s Peter Miller himself; the shop is a unique representation of him, his life’s work, his travels, his interests, and his commitment to slow living and appreciating the simpler, finer things in life. You’re likely to get into a conversation with Peter about what’s for dinner and what’s he’s excited about cooking, as much as discussing an up and coming book release. His shop is a reminder to slow down, unplug, and connect.

"Books are to themselves. I don't have the slightest doubt that we'll always have shoes, will always have a pillow, and will always have books."

"Books are shy. They sit there and they just wait. They're a different company, and an interesting company."

"I live on Whidbey Island and I love to go mushroom hunting. It's one of the greatest pleasures that the Northwest has. I also love to go out in the woods hunting particular flora and fauna, things to put in the assortment of vases.

I love to cook. Every Sunday, I make a soup."
