Pressed Cotton and calfskin. material Smooth surface cowhide is tanned using vegetable tannins from the mimosa tree. Vegetable tanning takes more time but does not use the toxic compounds needed for chrome tanned leather. Aniline dyes soak into the leather leaving visible the natural variation in grain and texture. The more aniline dyed leather is used, the better the surface patina gets over time. Pressed Cotton fabric is made with the same machines that were used to make very durable tent fabric. Geology Goatskin exterior lined with pigskin and calfskin. material The earthy surface of this leather resembles tiny mountain ranges and river valleys as seen from high up in the atmosphere. These miniature landscapes are created by shrinking the leather. As part of the tanning process the leather grain is tightened and shrunken until the distinctive textured surface is created. Calfskin interior is also vegetable tanned and aniline dyed. The grain is very fine and tightly packed allowing it to be durable and soft at the same time. With use it will continue to soften and develop a patina.
