Clay has a way of slowing time. It asks for attention, patience, and a willingness to let your hands lead. In this introductory workshop, Seattle ceramicist Alex Roby will guide participants through foundational hand building techniques, creating functional forms through coiling and pinching.
Designed for beginners, the class emphasizes process over perfection and offers an approachable introduction to working with clay in a relaxed, communal setting. Throughout the afternoon, each participant will create two ceramic pieces while learning how simple forms are built, refined, and prepared for firing.
Midway through the workshop, we’ll pause for tea break with Kwento Tea before returning to finish our work.
All materials are provided. Finished ceramics will be fired off site and available for pickup at Glasswing several weeks after the workshop. Capacity is limited to 20 participants.
