Ficus decora, "Rubber Plant" Burgundy

Ficus decora aka "Rubber Plants" are some of the easiest species to grow indoors and are easily propagated from stem cuttings. They also provide a nice rich hue of dark burgundy and black amidst the typical green foliage.   LIGHT: These plants prefer bright indirect light or direct morning sun. They can adapt to less light if needed.  WATER: Water thoroughly, then allow the top 30% of soil to dry out before watering again. Yellow leaves usually indicate overwatering while brown, crispy leaves usually mean the plant needs more water. Keep the soil even drier in lower light. Overwatering causes leaf drop. TEMPERATURE: An ideal range is 70-80 degrees. Keep plant away from cold drafts, air conditioners, heaters, and fireplaces. Ficus lyrata 'Little Fiddle' Tree, Fiddle Leaf Fig

The 'Little Fiddle' lyrata is a smaller leaf variety of the Ficus lyrata that grow up to 10'+ indoors. Ficus lyratas are usually available in either a bush form with leaves along the entire stalk of the plant or a tree form with leaves just at the top of the main stalk. If you have a requested shape, please make a note on your order and we will do our best to accommodate.    LIGHT: Bright indirect light. Insufficient light causes small leaves and leaf drop. Too much sun causes the leaves of a Fiddle Leaf Fig to fade and lose their dark green color. WATER: Allow the top 30% of topsoil to dry out and the leaves to become soft and flexible before watering. POTTING: All-purpose organic potting soil and a well draining pot situation is ideal. Like all Ficus Trees, this variety likes being root-bound in small pots. TEMPERATURE:60-80° Keep away from air conditioners, drafts, and heating vents. Intense cold or heat causes leaf drop. FERTILIZE 1x/month during it's active growing season (spring-fall). ORIGIN West Africa TOXICITY: Plant is toxic and should be kept away from pets and children. One of the most sculptural plants with its large and elegant leaves. Available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Turn a Fiddle Leaf frequently to keep it growing straight. We have a variety of different Ficus Lyratas from "little fiddles" with tinier leaves to wide broad leaf bush shaped specimens. Ficus microcarpa, "Ficus Moclame"

Ficus microcarpa, also known as Chinese banyan, Malayan banyan, Indian laurel, curtain fig, or gajumaru, is a tree in the fig family Moraceae. It is native in a range from China through tropical Asia and the Caroline Islands to Australia. Ficus Moclame is one of the easier of the ficus trees to care for. LIGHT Bright, indirect light or direct morning sun. Some direct sun is beneficial. WATER Allow top 25% of soil to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly. Yellow leaves or leaf drop of green leaves usually indicates too much water. Brown, shriveled leaves usually indicate the plant needs more wtaer. FERTILIZER 1x/mo spring through fall with an all purpose houseplant food. Floating Kokedama Workshop

A modern take on a traditional technique. In this hands-on workshop, participants create a miniature kokedama, an ornamental planting where roots are wrapped in moss and twine, suspended within a sealed glass cloche. This floating form draws from the Japanese bonsai tradition, where each element is carefully composed to create a living sculpture. Guided by our in-store plant team, you'll explore a range of plant options and learn how to assemble, style, and care for your moss ball terrarium. Participants will get to practice making a regular sized Kokedama prior to the miniature creation. All materials are provided, and each guest will leave with a finished piece. If possible, we will offer a small amount of studio time at the end of the workshop and participants can create additional kokedama. Additional plants sold individually with a $10 potting fee per kokedama.   Next Workshop Sunday, Aug 24 from 11 am - 12:30 pm GREENHOUSE WORKSHOP  This is a hands-on workshop and includes everything needed to create a floating kokedama terrarium. Participants will also learn basic flower conditioning techniques, and create centerpiece and accent arrangements. This information will be a great starting point for those who want to learn more about the floral industry while at the same time sharpening their design skills. Inspired by the natural world, Stephanie has been flowering for 15 years and her projects bring nature's wild elegance to weddings and events across the northwest.   Take a deep dive into designing eco-friendly centerpieces for your home. We’ll demonstrate design techniques and tips for creating a floral centerpiece for any space. Vessel shapes, arrangement styles, and floral textures and colors will be discussed using local and seasonal early spring flowers.   The class includes a centerpiece that you create and take home.   This workshop makes a great gift. George Nakamura, Deep Bowl
