Intro to Ikebana Workshop
$100
An introduction to Ikebana class, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, guided by longtime practitioner Charles Coghlan of Hana Design Ikebana. Rooted in an approach that considers line, space, and seasonality, ikebana offers a way of working with natural materials that feels both deliberate and intuitive. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn a bit of history as well as the foundational principles of ikebana through demonstration and practice. Branches, stems, and flowers are placed with attention to balance and movement, creating arrangements that shift in character depending on angle, light, and time. The process encourages a slower pace, where observation becomes as important as action. All materials will be provided. Participants will leave with their completed arrangement, along with a better understanding of the tools and techniques to continue exploring the practice at home. Ikebana translates to “the path of the flowers,” an approach that invites both discipline and openness. This workshop offers an entry point into that ongoing exploration. Instructor Charles Coghlan founded Hana Design Ikebana in 1997. His path to ikebana began in Washington’s Columbia River Valley, where years spent pruning orchard trees informed his sensitivity to form and structure. After studying under Master Sensei Aiko Ii of the Sogetsu School, he earned his teaching certificate and has spent decades sharing this evolving practice with students and collaborators. Next Workshop Saturday, April 25 from 11 am - 12:30 pmSaturday, April 25 from 2 - 3:30 pm Location Glasswing Warehouse Space310 E Pike StreetSeattle, WA 98122 -- Our workshops make great gifts. Jacques Soloviere Alexis, Grained Black
$439
Alexis Black grained calf is the perfect modern basic. For "him" and "her", this slip-on loafer is hewed from single piece of material, artfully constructed and finished with thin leather piping. These luxurious loafers testify to Jacques Soloviere Paris's commitment to making elegant and comfortable footwear that goes the distance, in effortlessly rakish fashion. These loafers are made from Italian leather with a kid leather lining, then shaped to a round-toe profile that's set on a crepe sole with a stitched welt.
