Scindapsus pictus, ‘Silver Splash Pothos’

Pothos are highly adaptable plants with heart-shaped leaves. They come in a variety of different colorings and are easy to care for and grow almost anywhere, which make them a perfect houseplant for beginners. This variety is known as the Satin or Silver Splash Pothos and has hints of iridescent silver on its leaves. This trailing plant is well suited for a shelf or hanging planter. LIGHT: The lighter the color in the leaves, the more light the plant requires. Bright indirect light is ideal, but this plant can adapt to lower light conditions. Avoid direct sun as it will burn the leaves. WATER: Water well and then allow the top 50% of soil to dry out before watering again. Over-watering is the main reason a pothos plant dies, so keeping the plant in a well-draining pot helps. Leaf droop indicates that the plant is thirsty. TEMPERATURE: 60° and 80°. Avoid placing the plant near a heating or cooling source. TOXICITY: Plant is toxic and should be kept away from pets and children. Archived Workshop: Natural dyeing has been a steady tradition for almost all cultures. However, within recent years with the rise of synthetic dyes, the art of natural dyeing has been fading from active practice. Learn to connect to our natural world and embrace colors created from their natural essence. This is a 3-hour hands-on workshop will give an overview of how to dye fibers naturally from food waste highlighting the use of avocado pits and onion skins. Calatheas are known for their stunning leaf patterns, almost like each variety is its own painted-on work of art, native to tropical Americas. 'White Fusions' have wispy leaves with variegation and hints of white and pink throughout. LIGHT: Bright, indirect light. Direct sun will burn the leaves and cause the color to fade. An east, west, or north window is ideal. WATER: Very sensitive to regular tap water. Distilled, filtered, or rain water preferred. Aim to keep the soil moist at all times, but never soggy. Never let a Calathea plant sit in water. HUMIDITY: Humidity is key with these plants. They would be happy in a bathroom with bright, indirect light or sitting on a tray of pebbles with water below the rocks. Aim to keep humidity level at 60% or higher in order to avoid brown leaf edges. TEMPERATURE: 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Calathea plants do not like cold drafts.
