Pilea microphylla, Variegated Artillery
$20 to $30
This plant specimen is also called the Artillery Plant and features tiny, light-green leaves on upright stems. The plant has small flowers that explosively send pollen into the air, which is how the plant got its name: the Artillery Plant. It is a great choice in a terrarium, or as a houseplant. This plant prefers moderate light and moist soil. LIGHT: Bright, indirect light or direct morning sun is preferred. Too much sun will burn the leaves and cause them to brown. Too little light produces leggy growth. WATER: Keep soil moist, but not soggy at all times. During fall and winter, allow the top 10% of soil to dry out before watering again. High humidity is key with this plant. TEMPERATURE: An ideal range is 60-80 degrees. FERTILIZER: Fertilize during their active growing season (spring-fall). ORIGIN: Mexico and Central America TOXICITY: Non-toxic DETAILS All pants come in their plastic grower's potDecorative Pots Sold SeparatelyPlants are available in-store pickup or local delivery onlyDelivery surcharge may be applied for oversized plants

Pilea peperomioides, "Friendship Plant"
$7 to $68
The Chinese money plant became popularized in minimally designed Scandinavian interiors, with its bright green circular-shaped leaves. Also known as the missionary plant, lefse plant, pancake plant, UFO plant it is actually originally from the southwestern Yunnan province of China. Popular lore maintains that a Norwegian missionary, Agnar Espegren, took cuttings home with him in the 1940s, and shared them with friends and family. Those plants were spread throughout Scandinavia, and eventually the world, as people passed cutting between friends. LIGHT: Bright indirect light or direct morning sun. Avoid strong afternoon sun. Rotate regularly to keep plant growing symmetrically. WATER: Allow top surface of soil to dry slightly between waterings. POTTING: Not recommended for potting in a container without a drain hole. Pot in a light airy mix with some peat moss. FERTILIZE: Spring through fall 1x/mo with 1/2 strength fertilizer PROPAGATION: New growth or plantlets, can grow up through the soil and can separate from the mother plant. Follow the stem about an inch under, and use a clean, sharp knife to cut the baby plant free. Plantlets also grow straight from the stem, and you can cut these free, place in water to root, and then follow the same directions as above. TOXICITY: This plant is not toxic. Platycerium bifurcatum, "Staghorn Fern"
$12 to $88
Named after its deer-like antlers, the Staghorn fern is one of the easiest ferns to grow. Plants have two types of fronds: basal and fertile. The basal fronds are sterile and anchor the plant against trees. They also protect the plants roots. The fertile fronds bear spores for reproduction. Because these plants often grow naturally on trees or rocks, they make great options for mounted plant projects. LIGHT: Bright filtered light or direct morning sun. WATER: Water when top 20% of soil is dry. Keep soil drier in winter. Green fronds droop from under-watering and drop from over-watering. Plants like humidity, but avoid water sitting on leaves as it may cause powdery mildew. TEMPERATURE: Ideal range is 60-80 degrees. SOIL: Plants should be potted in a light weight medium containing some orchid bark and/or peat moss. TOXIC: Non-toxic DETAILS All pants come in their plastic grower's potDecorative Pots Sold SeparatelyPlants are available in-store pickup or local delivery onlyDelivery surcharge may be applied for oversized plants
